During our school days, we had a subject called work experience we had three sessions in a week, and we learnt gardening, tailoring and cooking by turns.
We also had skills honing which focused on embroidery, painting, typing we would get certified for this. So buttons that come off, or darning was something all us knew how to attend to. I see the curriculum at school does have the mandatory work experience class, but the kids do not learn survival skills, they are taught to paint vases, baked by someone else.
Even online sewing groups seem so minium, unlike other groups, hopefully there are a lot and its just that I have not discovered them.
As I am decluttering my house I rescued an old tailoring book of mine I hope to store it online,
For those of you who are not ashamed of enjoying sewing, Usha sewing machines used to conduct classes I do not know now. Singer conducts classes too. For those who have done some tailoring once a upon a time you can pick your zarapkar’s and Anna Jacob Thomas, Each country would of course have its own tailoring teachers and a tailoring cult of its own. Please do give me your inputs.
